  • Restorative Yoga encourages deep relaxation. With the support of props, the body is fully nurtured, allowing tension to dissolve and the mind to settle into calm and stillness.

Vishoka Meditation

An accessible practice from the Himalayan tradition, Vishoka Meditation employs a step-by-step approach that involves posture, breath training, relaxation, and a precise meditation method, enabling you to calm the mind, release stress, and cultivate lasting clarity and joy within both your practice and daily life.

  • Vishoka Meditation Course – 6 Weeks

    A step-by-step journey into freedom rooted in the Himalayan tradition.
    Vishoka Meditation is a systematic practice drawn from the wisdom of the Himalayan masters. It integrates posture, breath training, relaxation, and meditation into a complete path designed to help us transcend stress and uncover an abiding sense of clarity, joy, and inner freedom—both on the meditation cushion and in everyday life.

    Week 1: Foundations of Vishoka
    Theme: The promise of freedom from sorrow (vishoka)

    • Content: Introduction to the Himalayan meditation tradition.

      • The meaning of Vishoka and its origin in the Yoga Sutras.

      • How lifestyle, posture, and breath prepare the mind for meditation.

    • Practice: Establishing a stable seat, cultivating body awareness, and diaphragmatic breathing.

    • Take-home: A 10-minute daily breath awareness practice.

    Week 2: Breath & Nervous System Balance
    Theme: Harnessing the breath as the bridge

    • Content: Exploring pranic pathways and the breath’s role in balancing the nervous system.

      • The importance of nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) in meditation preparation.

    • Practice: Nadi shodhana with a 1:1 ratio; Breath awareness meditation.

    • Take-home: A daily practice of 6–8 rounds of nadi shodhana, followed by quiet sitting.

    Week 3: The Inner Pause
    Theme: Moving from gross to subtle awareness

    • Content: How prana and mantra guide the mind inward.

      • Introduction to the universal mantra So-Ham (“I am That”).

    • Practice: Guided So-Ham breath awareness; Expanding the pause between breaths to deepen awareness.

    Week 5: Integrating Vishoka Meditation

      • Applying Vishoka principles to sleep, diet, and emotional balance.

    • Practice: The full Vishoka sequence: posture → breath regulation → So-Ham → heart-light focus.

    Optional Week 6: Deepening & Self-Sustaining Practice

    • Content: How to design a personal sadhana (spiritual practice).

      • Common obstacles in meditation and ways to overcome them.

      • Pathways for continued study: silence retreats, advanced pranayama, scripture study.

    Practice: Extended Vishoka meditation (30–40 minutes); Guided journaling on the experience of “freedom from sorrow.”
